World Heritage Site
Historians have uncovered over 6,000 prehistoric rock carvings at Gobustan National Park. The carvings depict people, often in acts of trial and battle, and animals. They are thought to be between 5,000 and 20,000 years old.Â
Gobustan State Historical and Cultural Reserve is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Â
Archaeologists have found bones nearby that they believe belong to an ancient mammoth.Â
The country is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, including the golden eagleÂ
